Carla is an assistant professor at the Health School of the Polytechnic University of Setúbal in Portugal, where she coordinates the Master’s program in Advanced Neurological Physiotherapy. She holds a PhD from St George’s, University of London, and a Master’s degree in Educational Sciences. She has been a member of the thematic Working Group on Neurological Physiotherapy of the Portuguese Order of Physiotherapists and represented the group at the International Neurological Physiotherapy Association (INPA). She is also an active member of several academic and professional councils, including the Ethics Committee of IPS, the Portuguese Society of Clinical Communication in Healthcare, and a national expert for the External Evaluation Commission of A3ES (Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education).
As an integrated researcher at the Comprehensive Health Research Centre (CHRC), Carla leads and collaborates on projects focusing on neurological conditions, self-management, digital health, patient-centred care, and education. She has received several awards for her contributions to the field in recent years. Carla also supervises master’s and doctoral students, fostering the next generation of physiotherapy professionals.
